  • A criterium, better known as a crit, is a short loop bike race held on a closed road circuit of about 1 mile or less; think Formula 1 or Grand Prix on bikes!

    RACE TERMINOLOGY

    Peloton - the main pack of riders

    Breakaway - a small group trying to escape the large pack of riders (the Peloton)

    Chase Group - riders between the peloton and breakaway trying to catch up

    Prime (pronounced preem) Lap - a bonus sprint mid-race for prizes

    Gap - the time or distance between groups of riders

  • It is FREE to watch! The best views are at the start/finish line and at the corners for close-up action!

  • Each course is lined with crowd control barricades. Find a spot on the fence and cheer on the athletes! You can bring a lawn chair if desired.

  • Maps and details to come!

  • Each race runs between 30–90 minutes. About halfway through, officials calculate speed and set a lap countdown to finish within the time limit.

  • Expect high energy, community vibes, and nonstop action! Riders zoom by at 25–35 mph while fans line the fences, vendors fill the expo area, and the Omaha metro comes alive.

    Cheer loud, bring noise makers, and support your favorite riders. Just keep your arms and belongings outside the fence line.

  • This is an open, free event, you can bring your own food and beverage; however, there are plenty of options nearby—check out local spots around Aksarben Village or Downtown Papillion while you enjoy the races.

  • Yes, bring family and friends to enjoy the racing and festivities at any time of the day. While some roads may be closed for the safety of racers and spectators, there is typically  ample, clearly marked parking.

  • For the safety of cyclists and spectators, there will be clearly designated “Cross Walks”. For everyone’s safety, please cross only in these areas at times when volunteers deem it is safe to cross.
